Woman Accused of Hitting Police Officer

A Dothan woman faces an assault charge after she allegedly struck an officer with a closed fist as he attempted to take her into custody.

Investigators say Keeyada Martinez, 18, of Sasser Street was observed shouting obscenities at a juvenile on Wednesday, July 31.

The alleged action, caused the officer to make contact with Martinez. Police say that Martinez continued her conduct and was advised by the officer that she was being placed under arrest.

As the officer attempted to detain her, Martinez allegedly pulled away and then hit him in the face.

After a brief struggle, Martinez was detained. She has been charged with second degree assault. Her bond has been set at $150,000.
