Six women were honored today for their public service in the Wiregrass.
They were recognized by the Heritage Trail, which nominates African American woman who give back.
This year the 8th annual coronation ceremony kicked off at Honeysuckle Middle School.
The Heritage Trail began in 2004, when event leaders decided it was important to look closely at their roots.
