Coffee County, AL – Lt. Governor Kay Ivey today announced the appointment of Senator Jimmy Holley to the Joint Legislative Transportation Committee.
The announcement was made during the Highway 167 Summit today in Enterprise, AL.
“I am proud to appoint Senator Holley to the Transportation Committee,” Ivey stated. “He is a qualified and experienced individual who will be a great asset to this important committee. As Alabama and other states face budget deficits, it’s important to have knowledgeable people at the helm who know how to provide more for less, and that’s exact what Sen. Holley will help the Joint Legislative Transportation Committee achieve.”
Senator Holley is currently serving his 3rd term in the Alabama Senate after serving 5 terms in the House of Representatives.
In the Senate, he serves as the Chairperson of Governmental Affairs, Vice Chairperson of Rules, and member of Energy and Natural Resources, and Veterans and Military Affairs.
Senator Holley expressed his appreciation and stated, “I look forward to representing Alabama, and particularly the Second Congressional District, on such an important committee. As the recession begins to subside, it is important to have the infrastructure necessary to encourage and facilitate present and future economic growth.”
Today’s appointment marks Lt. Gov. Ivey’s first to the Joint Legislative Transportation Committee.
As President of the Senate, she will appoint seven members, one from each Congressional District, and the Speaker of the House appoints the other seven in the same manner.
