DOTHAN, AL - The Wiregrass Area’s 6th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at Sunset Memorial Park Monday, May 28. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m. and the ceremony begins at 2:15 p.m. featuring guest speaker Fort Rucker Garrison Commander Col. James Muskopf.
Mayor Mike Schmitz will serve as the Memorial Day Ceremony emcee and lead the ceremony, which begins at 2:15 p.m., for the 3 p.m. national moment of silence. This annual ceremony honors our military heroes and the sacrifices they have made for our freedom and will feature a flower laying ceremony, live music by RTFO, food, appearance by the Fort Rucker Honor Guard and the Patriot Guard Riders.
“We wanted to offer a way for families to share the true meaning of Memorial Day. They can honor and remember our fallen heroes by participating in the flower laying ceremony and observing the national moment of silence. It’s breathtaking when you think about the sacrifices that have been made for our freedom,” Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Director Robert Byrd said.
