The end of October typically makes people think of Halloween, but today; a group of Wiregrass Residents began spreading the word about another national event.
Red Ribbon Week officially begins on Oct. 23, but The Prevention Project began telling people about the importance of not using drugs on Tuesday afternoon. County Commission Chairman Mark Culver came to the Houston County Courthouse to read the Red Ribbon Week proclamation.
The week-long event brings drug-free adults and students into classrooms across the county to educate young children about the dangers of drugs before it is too late.
Red Ribbon Week will run through Oct. 31. More information about drug prevention can be found online at www.wiregrasspartnership.com.
