DALEVILLE -- Windham Elementary received the President's Award for Exceptional Performance on Thursday.
The award comes after their successful book fair.
The top 13 schools in the United States who promoted and led a successful book fair won this awards. They base the winning on different areas such as theme, decorations, advertising and student engagement.
Windham Elementary chose "Reading Oasis" as their theme and transformed their library into an Egyptian tent. As a whole, they sold more than $10,000 dollars worth of books.
"It just means everything to bring recognition to our school because we believe that we have some of the best teachers and faculty, staff and students of anywhere around," Librarian Christy Hixson said. "So, for us, it just meant the world to finally be recognized for all the hardwork that we do."
