Veterans groups are encouraging you to drop of your old American flags. Vets will be at the Southside Walmart in Dothan and Ozark’s Tractor Supply Store and Walmart for the rest of the week from 9 in the morning till 4 p.m.

They are taking unserviceable American Flags to properly retire them.

Art Miller, Past Commander of Disabled American Veterans said, “A lot of people don’t realize that the flag to us, and it should be to most Americans, is a living, breathing symbol of our nation. Millions of people have died protecting Old Glory. Old Glory is not designed to be thrown in the trash.

The correct way to dispose of a flag is through a more than one hour long ceremony involving burning.

Those ceremonies will be held in Ozark at the Veterans Lodge across from the Perry Rec Center and the Harley Davidson in Dothan this Saturday at 11 a.m.
