BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - The icy winter weather gripping Alabama
appeared to clear in time Monday for many Auburn football fans to
get on flights to the national championship game in Arizona.

Birmingham Airport officials said charter flights taking fans to the game in Glendale, Ariz. began leaving at about 11 a.m. Monday.

Airport spokeswoman Toni Bast said some fans may have been stranded by the cancellation of several commercial fans, but that most of them were trying to reschedule onto different flights.

In Auburn, some students were left looking for places to watch the game when the weather caused Auburn officials to cancel viewing
parties planned for the school's student center and arena Monday
night.
