(DOTHAN) On Saturday, July 27, at 10 a.m. Landmark Park will celebrate National Watermelon Month with a Watermelon Harvest and Sampling.
Over 1200 varieties of watermelons are grown across the world. Landmark Park will harvest and provide samples of the varieties grown at the park, including Moon and Stars, Black Diamond, Charleston Gray, Crimson Sweet and Jubilee.
The Watermelon sampling is free with paid gate admission ($4 for adults, $3 for kids, free for members). The Alabama Watermelon Association will be present at the event with handouts of recipes and information. Visitors will also have a chance to meet the Alabama Watermelon Queen.
