Veteran Newsman Bob Howell to Head New ASU Center

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Veteran television newscaster Bob Howell has been named interim director of Alabama State University's Center for Communications and Applied Media.

Howell takes the position leading the new ASU venture after his May 23rd retirement as news anchorman at WSFA-TV in Montgomery after 32 years with the NBC station.

ASU President William Harris said Howell will be responsible for developing a curriculum for the center and will also teach.

Howell has experience teaching at Troy University and said he looks forward to his duties with ASU.

The new center will house ASU's radio and television stations.
