TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Crews are making final preparations to demolish one of the oldest buildings on the University of Alabama campus to make way for a new outdoor plaza.

One Monday, preservationists combed through the house trying to save some architectural elements.
Officials want to use the land for a new plaza with an outdoor dining pavilion.
A potential purchaser who might have moved the old home to a new site backed out of talks over the cost.
Kilgore House was listed on the Alabama Register of Historic Places in 1988. The building was the Alabama Heritage magazine office for 25 years until last summer.
