Changes are hitting the runway at the Troy Municipal Airport.
Vandalism has been a big problem at the airport for many years.
Officials say at one time people were breaking out lights on the runway.
People also reportedly ride four wheelers through the airport and rip up the grass.
Deer even caused a leer jet to wreck two years ago.
That's when a fence seems like a good idea.
At first, officials say it was just going to be constructed around an extended part of the runway.
But problems just weren't getting any smaller.
The extended fence cost about 41 thousand dollars, more but officials say they felt like it was something they needed to do.
The total project costs around 5 million dollars.
The Federal Aviation Administration will pay 95 percent, while state aeronautics and the city of Troy will both pay two and half percent.
