Troy Construction

Driving south on Brundidge street right now isn't a picnic.

Troy university sophomore Cory Wiggins said, “It’s been a pain because you have to drive around so many blocks just to get here and when the road closed signs someone coming out can't come in.”

But it wasn't before, either.

The road was so narrow, officials say two big trucks would almost hit each other. Now crews are widening it for safety and to speed up traffic flow.

Owners wouldn't speak on camera, but saw their profits slashed 50 percent when a main entrance to the store was blocked off. Still, Beeline and other businesses along the road say they were ready for a change.

Family Dentistry office manager Henri Allen said, “It's going to be a really good thing when it's finished and the inconvenience now once it's done it will be worth it.”

That inconvenience was a busy road with few places for traffic to move.

Allen said, “it was congested easily during the rush hours so certainty it will eliminate some of that.”

Troy students like Wiggins remember the traffic and are all for construction now preventing major headaches later.

Wiggins said, “I think it will be better in the future makes our roads look nicer and easier to travel down no potholes, not mess up tires.”

Business owners like Allen are keeping busy, warning patients to be careful and looking forward to this.

Allen said, “Peace and quiet and a nice new street.”
