Success was in the air as families celebrated a new chapter.
Graduates at Troy University embarked on a new journey. More than 240 students graduated at the Dothan Civic Center for Troy University's fall commencement ceremony.
Some will go into nursing, others education, but keynote speaker Paul Lee wanted them to remember who helped them along the way.
"I want to talk about some of the giants in their lives that have helped encourage them to get to this point,” said Paul Lee, Alabama State Representative.
So, who are the giants?
"They were the people who encouraged you, they believed in you, the mentored you and they trusted you,” Lee explained.
Each graduate worked hard for this achievement. It's their turn now to be the giant for someone else.
Lee said, "We never know who crosses our path that helps us and sometimes we don't realize that until years later."
Troy University not only taught them education, but how to build their character. Now with a tough job market to face, the graduates are ready to distinguish themselves from the group.
"Be on time, be prompt, fulfill their duties, and they've done that, they've proven that over the past four years. People need to put themselves in a standard that may be above the other crowd,” Lee advised.
It was practical information to complement their success. Graduates left the civic center wiser, excited, and ready to go to work. Faculty have no doubt these graduates will represent Troy University in the best way they can.
