It has been a difficult three and a half weeks for Troy University. Friends, family, and peers gathered in front of Bibb Graves Hall to remember four lives taken too soon.

Haijiao Sun, Kimberle Johnson, Kristin Fuller, and Jadarius Garner all died during the holiday break. Sun was an international student from China. He graduated from Troy, but died in a car accident December 21st.

Just one week later, the student body opened another heart-breaking email. Johnson was shot and killed at a nightclub in Montgomery. She was a junior at troy. On New Year's Day, Fuller also died from gunshot wounds. Police charged a Troy football signee with the death of the 18-year-old.

Faculty said she and Johnson both had bright futures.

“”Both Kimberle and Kristin were continued to be social workers. They’re lives were set to serve others,” spoke Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor of Troy University.

The fourth and final email came on January 2nd. Two cars hit Garner on a Mississippi highway. The former Troy football player appeared in all 12 games.

Wednesday night, friends and family lit candles to remember the warmth of these students.
