Troy Rapist Gets New Trial Over Suppressed Evidence

TROY, AL - The Troy man convicted of raping two women on the same day in 2012 will get another trial.

Earlier this year, Andre Ellis was sentenced to 85 years in prison.

He was found guilty of raping two women on the same day last March in Hunter's Mountain Mobile Estates trailer park.

Circuit Judge Jeff Kelley ordered a new trial for Ellis, saying prosecutors withheld information and evidence that could have favored the defense. Kelley said the suppression wasn't intentional or malicious.

A pre-trial hearing has been set for August 1. A trial date will be set then.
