"Every year we worry if we are going to have enough toys to fill the needs of the community, but every year, this community comes through in a big way and we always have toys to fill the requirements we have of children who need toys for Christmas." Chancey said

A lot of boxing, lifting and packing went into Monday’s collection for toys for tots.
But volunteers say it was all well worth it.

“We have a new batch of toys in and the high school kids are now taking the toys and placing them in the proper locations.” Wiregrass Marine Corp League Al Chancey said.

Volunteers with toys for tots and high schoolers came together to sort the thousands of presents collected.

“It just feels good to help out and be able to help everybody, you know I like being helpful to the community and everything.” Abbeville High school student Javen Williams said.

Volunteers say this year, it looks like many families will have a happy Christmas, and it’s all thanks to the community.

“We know that there’s a lot of people who don’t have expectations for a big Christmas and if we can meet that need. It’s the most joyful thing you could imagine.” Chancey said.

Volunteers say they had an overwhelming amount of donations for younger children.
But they hope to take the money donated, and purchase gifts for older kids too.
