MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- More than 30 Alabama towns are planning family-friendly events for the Fourth of July.
The Alabama Tourism Department says Birmingham will have its Thunder on the Mountain fireworks show. Music and fireworks are also on tap for the 46th Annual Spirit of America Festival in Decatur,
the Shoals Spirit of Freedom Celebration in Florence and the Lake Martin Amphitheater near Alexander City.
The Grand Bay Watermelon Festival will feature all the watermelon you can eat.
The Mobile Pops Orchestra will perform at the USS Alabama Battleship in Mobile, and Blackberry Smoke will appear at Montgomery's celebration.
Some towns will start the festivities on July 3.
Chelsea will host the Big Kaboom Fireworks Celebration, and Fort Rucker will have a free performance by actor Gary Sinise and his Lt. Dan Band.
