The Tomahawks have a new leader. That’s the name for the battalion that trains more than 850 students and the battalion that does attack helicopter pilot training on Fort Rucker.
Lieutenant Colonel Mark Gillespie will take over command from Lieutenant Colonel Bevin Cherot.
Lt. Col. Mark Gillespie said, “As you know this is the home of army aviation. I’ve been here before, 18 short years ago I went through this same battalion as a student training. And I am overjoyed for the opportunity to command this great battalion.”
The outgoing commander is leaving for his next assignment at the Pentagon.
