Tipsy Tow is a program provided through AAA.
This New Year’s Eve, it will come in handy for Dothan residents.
Eagle Towing and Recovery will be on-call for those who may be too impaired to drive.
New Year’s is a time to reflect on the past with friends and loved ones.
Kym Smith and her husband Mark want to make sure it's also a safe time.
After being personally affected by the downfall of drunk driving, the Smith's and Eagle Towing and Recovery decided to give back to the community in a selfless way.
"Well my husband probably about thirty years ago lost a grandmother
and lost an uncle to drunk drivers so it's very personal to him,” said Kym.
The best part is it won't cost you a dime.
For the past 20 years it's been their purpose to make the streets safe on New Year’s Eve.
They help local law enforcement keep wiregrass roads safe.
"I think it's a service to the community, I really do and also a service to everybody involved and one of the worst things they just don't want to leave their vehicle behind and some of these towing companies do that," said Captain Carlisle of the Houston County Sheriff Police Department.
Officers like Captain Carlisle appreciate the help.
The Tipsy Tow service will take you anywhere in the Wiregrass.
"We'll be on call all that day, all of New Year’s Eve so it doesn't matter if you are one of those late one's that finish at 7 or 8 in the morning please call,” said Kym.
Because being drunk and not making the right call, just might have you riding in the back of one of these on New Year’s Eve.
Although the service is free of charge to the public, drivers will accept tips if offered.
