(Dothan,AL)—According to police, Home burglary and theft increase during the summer months. However, there are many things that can be done to prevent becoming a victim.

Police recommend locking all doors, keeping a light on and leaving vacation details with a trusted neighbor. They also suggest keeping vacation details off an online social network.

For added protection this summer, the Dothan Police Department offers free patrols for those who leave town.

When you go on vacation it is a good idea not to tell every body. Also when you are going out of town to see the doctor or something like this and you're going to be gone all day, don't tell everybody.People at work don't need to know your every move.People you wouldn't even suspect could turn out to be on the side thieves. While I bemoaned the loss of my stuff that was stolen from my home, it turned out the one I thought was my friend at work was a thief. My neighbor didn't think anything about her being there at my home as she had been there many times anyway. So you never know who you can trust.
