PHENIX CITY, Ala. (AP) -- Authorities say a 17-year-old student in eastern Alabama has been charged with making a terroristic threat in connection with a bomb threat at a Phenix City high school.
Phenix City police Lt. George Staudinger said the student at Central High School was arrested by the department's Criminal Investigation Unit and taken to the Lee County Youth Detention Center.
The threat was made around 9:35 a.m. Monday.
Phenix City Schools Superintendent Larry DiChiara said police believe the special needs student made the call from the school after borrowing a cell phone from a friend.
DiChiara said students were evacuated for about two hours, then returned to class.
