(Dothan, AL)--Pamela Lewis is just one of the many parents that attended the Dothan City School Board meeting to address her concerns over the board's decision to non-renew the contract of Girard Middle School Principal Greg Yance.
"My daughter has had problems in the past and he's always been there for her," Lewis said.
Dothan City School Superintendent Tim Wilder recommended the non-renewal of Yance's contract to the school board. The board lists failure to control disruptive behavior as one of the reasons for their decision, but many of the school's teachers disagree.
"In the six years that I've worked with Mr. Yance, he has always been present in the classroom and has taken care of our students," Teacher Katherine Hart said.
Yance's contract is currently in litigation.
