ANNISTON, Ala. (AP) -- U.S. Forest Service officials say a fire that consumed more than 500 acres of the Talladega National Forest has been contained.

Ranger Bobby Kitchens says more than 530 acres of the Dugger Mountain Wilderness has burned since Nov. 10. Kitchens has said the blaze was caused by a campfire that was improperly extinguished.

WBMA-TV reports about 40 firefighters are still monitoring the area and no property damage has been reported.

Kitchens says rain over the weekend likely helped authorities take control of the blaze.
