Super Bowl and Super Stress?

During large sporting events, more heart attacks are reported.

Is there a relationship between the big game and a big health scare?

Anticipation, the wait, then the big day finally comes. The stress is mounting for the game your team just can't lose. What happens if they do? A study by the American Journal of Cardiology found that heart breaking losses show a trend of broken hearts to follow.

Its serious business...

"As you get stimulated and you become aggressive towards the game whether your team is losing or winning, your body starts to release hormones, it increases the workload on your heart," Captain Sean Gibson of the Dothan Fire Department said.

A game will most likely not trigger a random heart attack.... The body will show signs. Chest pain, indigestion, shortness of breath, unexplained sweating and pain in the left arm are things to watch. If these are regular, its time to get checked... And do it before the big game.

"A certain amount of stress is healthy as well,” Dr. Andreas Muench of Southeast Cardiology said. “For most people, that excitement is a good thing. It's not anything dangerous. For some people who have advanced heart disease it might be a problem."

Many people don't know they have heart disease or problems though until it’s too late.

Doctors encourage everyone, regardless of whether you think you have a problem with your heart or not to get it checked out before it's too late.

Going to the doctor for a check-up and a physical will show signs if they exist. That will help you spread the love if your team wins the big game too.

Coronary heart disease, which can cause heart attacks, is the number one cause of death in the United States.

Anyone who would get that stressed out over a football game needs to get a life.
