Army reserve soldiers are gearing up for the best warrior competition on Fort Rucker.
"We are looking for the best out of the 13,000 soldiers to represent the command at USARC," said CSM Ronald Flubacher.
This competition is far from basic training. It's more similar to dealing with a war zone, with soldiers always having to stay one step ahead of the enemy.
"I swim now, and try to run a little bit more," says Specialist D’ontray Townsend
The competition deals with both the mental and physical stamina of being a soldier.
"If you're hurting or you feel like you're losing or whatever is you are mentally tough you are going to be able to drive on and do really well and at least finish it,” says Specialist Jodi Trapp.
That can be tough in this six and a half mile run in eighty degree weather ... All while carrying a thirty pound backpack.
The only strategy these soldiers have to win is to simply...
"Go hard as I can, just go one hundred and ten percent."
"I hope I win," says Specialist D’ontray Townsend
That's one thing all these soldiers are hoping for.
The winner of the competition will compete in the United States 2012 best warrior competition in Montana in June.
