Shooting in Madison

A woman is dead after an overnight shooting in Madison, Alabama.

Investigators say 55-year-old Deborah Jo day was walking along Michael Avenue with a handgun threatening to shoot neighbors.

Madison police responded to the scene and repeatedly asked day to drop her gun.

Officers say she raised and pointed her gun at officers, forcing them to shoot her.

Day was taken to Huntsville hospital where she later died.

The officers involved have been placed on administrative leave, while the investigation continues.
