MOBILE, Ala. (AP) -- Sears Holdings Corp. says three Alabama
locations are included in its plan to shut down scores of Sears and
Kmart stores nationwide.
The company said Thursday it will close a Sears store in Mobile
along with Kmart stores in Gadsden and Auburn. It isn't saying how
many employees will lose their jobs, but each store typically has
40 to 80 workers.
In all, the corporation says 79 stores nationwide are closing
following poor holiday sales, and more could follow.
Sears isn't saying exactly when the stores will close.
