The fate of the Saints Apartment Complex has been decided.
On Thursday, the majority of the Historical Preservation Commission voted in favor to keep the building standing.
When voting on the decision, six board members voted in favor to keep the structure, one voted not to keep the building and two board members abstained from voting.
The outcome of the vote has led to the end of the DDRA’s plan to demolish the structure and turn it into a parking lot.
At a previous DDRA meeting, Ruth Page Nelson, of Smart North America, Inc. stated that she wanted to buy the complex which DDRA owns and transform it into a training institute for green jobs. That plan is still a possibility for the area.
