Although it is summer, Honeysuckle Middle School teachers are still in the classroom.

Principal Scott Faulk says his faculty is learning how to prevent bullying in and outside of school. They are also working on safety programs. Right now, teachers are practicing having a presence program which keeps them within eyesight of students at all times.

“We make sure we are seen every day...Students greet the teachers at the door..teachers do extra bus duty. We make sure we're around so the students can see let them know that they can feel safe here in this environment,” said Scott.

Honeysuckle has also stepped up safety measures for technology. The school now offers an i-Phone app that sends out text alerts. Students who are bullied also have access to a hotline email.
