For Dothan-Houston County Rotary Club member Jeff Coleman and his daughters the holidays are a time to help others--especially those in need.
“To deliver these Christmas meals to families in need throughout our community just warms my heart each and every year," said, Jeff Coleman.
Coleman is talking about the club's annual Christmas box project. It's an effort that collects food for the needy this year it will feed 150 Wiregrass families.
“Just to see their faces light up with joy just means so much to me and it just makes me feel
in the Christmas spirit. These people really have so little and it's just so rewarding to see the looks on their faces when we deliver these Christmas meals," said Coleman’s daughter, Mary Virginia.
It's that act of humble kindness that has residents like Martha Tiller saying thank you.
She added, “It feels good because I mean, I don't have a car I don't have a way to get around
and it's good that people still do stuff like that. I 'm just thankful because I couldn't
afford to buy a ham."
Each door served means a family will have less holiday worries and more happiness to fill their plate.
Rotary members have been doing this for eight years now.
