MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama's official state Christmas tree will brighten up downtown Montgomery when the lights of the tree on the Capitol steps are turned on.

Gov. Bob Riley, first lady Patsy Riley and Mrs. Ann Daniels of the Garden Club of Alabama will turn on the lights during a ceremony that begins at 5:15 p.m. Friday on the Capitol steps.

The ceremony will include a tribute to U.S. military forces led by Lt. Gen. Al Peck. He's the commander of the Air University at Maxwell Air Force Base. Country music and blue grass artist Bradley Walker of Athens, Ala. will perform.
