ANNISTON, Ala. (AP) -- Alabama authorities are hoping a cash reward will help lead them find a man who raped an 82-year-old woman.
WSFA-TV reports (http://bit.ly/McVlHF ) Gov. Robert Bentley is offering $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the July 15 attack in Calhoun County.
Sheriff's investigators say the elderly woman suffered a heart attack after she was knocked down and raped by a man who stole her purse after approaching the victim outside her home.
Sheriff Larry Amerson says the woman has been an excellent witness, but investigators are having to be mindful of her health after she underwent open heart surgery in the last week.
