DECATUR, Ala. (AP) -- Authorities say frigid weather in north Alabama is causing several wrecks on icy roads and bridges. Police in Decatur urged drivers to stay off the roads Saturday because of "extremely dangerous" conditions with ice forming on bridges and overpasses.
ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (AP) -- An animal rescue activist on the Alabama coast says he's seeking to press charges against the owner of a puppy that he says was thrown off a second-story balcony. The puppy, a 4-month-old husky-mix called Nava, survived the fall. But a veterinarian had to amputate one of the dog's legs because it was too badly broken.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- Police say they're hunting a suspect who stabbed and wounded man in Tuscaloosa. Tuscaloosa County police Capt. Loyd Baker says a 32-year-old man suffered a large cut to his chest and left arm early Saturday at the University Manor Apartments. He says the suspect then ran over the victim's right ankle and fractured it as he fled.

MILTON, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities say an Alabama man has died from injuries he suffered in a traffic crash in the Florida Panhandle. The Florida Highway Patrol says David M. Kicker of Repton, Ala., was driving a Ford Explorer on a state road southeast of Jay when he failed to stop for a turning vehicle.
BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Police say a South Florida man killed two of his children before killing himself. Boynton Beach police say Isidro Zavala killed 12-year-old Eduardo Zavala and 11-year-old Mario Zavala at their mother's home early Saturday.
MIAMI (AP) -- The Miami International Map Fair returns for its 20th year. HistoryMiami, a cultural institution that celebrates the city's rich history, is hosting the fair that runs Saturday and Sunday. The annual event features antique maps, rare books, panoramas and atlases from around the world.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Florida's legislative leaders are letting the public know how much people are getting paid to work for the Legislature. Both the House and Senate quietly this week added links on legislative websites that allow people to look up legislative employee salaries. The two chambers are also posting copies of contracts.

COHUTTA, Ga. (AP) -- Officials say a small earthquake near the Georgia-Tennessee line was powerful enough to rattle some residents awake in the middle of the night. The U.S. Geological Survey recorded the 2.8-magnitude quake at 1:47 a.m. Saturday near the state line between Cohutta, Ga., and Apison, Tenn.
MACON, Ga. (AP) -- Sheriff's deputies say a middle Georgia man was growing $210,000 worth of marijuana at his grandmother's house. Bibb County sheriff's investigators displayed more than 100 pot plans seized from the home of the 80-year-old woman. Her grandson, 34-year-old Scott E. Seymour Jr., has been arrested on charges of marijuana trafficking and other drug-related counts.
LILBURN, Ga. (AP) -- Georgia's famed groundhog, Gen. Beauregard Lee, has spotted his shadow -- indicating we're in for a longer winter. Lee woke to the ringing of an antique bell Saturday and waddled out of his home at the Yellow River Game Ranch in Lilburn. Ranch employee Mary Jackson says about 600 onlookers braved a frigid morning to await his Groundhog Day prediction.
