MOBILE, Ala. (AP) -- Authorities say a 45-year-old man accused of raping a 78-year-old woman in Mobile could face 20 years to life in prison.
Reports say Calvin Levester Chambers consented to a DNA test that tied him to the Oct. 26 rape of the elderly woman.
Officials say Chambers first asked the victim if she needed her grass cut and became persistent when she declined. After that, authorities say the man gained entry through a rear door of the woman's home that had a burglar bar that would not latch.
Bucky Thomas, Chambers' lawyer, says he is requesting the judge to set bond for his client who is being held in the Mobile County Metro Jail.
