MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Forestry Commission says the
rain that some parts of the state received this week was not enough to lift the statewide fire alert in any counties.

Alabama has been under a statewide fire alert since Sept. 23 because of extremely dry conditions. Outdoor burning is restricted during a fire alert and the issuance of burn permits is limited.

The Forestry Commission has recorded more than 1,080 wildfires
since Sept. 1. They have burned more than 9,400 acres.
