Prosecutor: Wire Taps for 2 Alabama Casino Owners

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A federal prosecutor has revealed that investigators tapped the phone calls of two Alabama casino owners and one casino lobbyist.

Justice Department prosecutor Peter Ainsworth said in a court hearing Thursday investigators recorded thousands of phone calls involving VictoryLand owner Milton McGregor, Country Crossing developer Ronnie Gilley and Country Crossing lobbyist Jarrod Massey.

Those three and eight others have been indicted on charges accusing them of buying and selling votes on pro-gambling legislation.

Prosecutors have given defense attorneys tape recordings of 3,000 calls. A federal judge will hold a hearing Wednesday on whether they must turn over several thousand more.

There are so many things in this state that need to be taken care of finacially, instead of thinking about what others are gonna say about the bingo being in alabama they should learn from other states and see how it helps to rebuild thier communities. i tell you if some of these people would open there minds and their hearts instead of being selfish and thinking about their OWN pockets this city as well as state would be a much better place for everyone. but good lick with that people are so greedy and in the end when its time for you to meet the maker, how are you gonna explain the greed you have in your heart. tisk tisk i tell you....
