Pre-K Gives Young Kids a Head Start on Learning

DOTHAN -- The Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama (PARCA) recently found that students who completed a pre-k program made better grades and out-performed their classmates by the time they reached elementary school.

The numbers were especially high in low-income students. The study found that these participants who completed a pre-k program versus those that did not made high achievements by 25 percent.

There are currently around 5,500 four year olds enrolled in a pre-K program in Alabama.
