Two people are dead in an apparent murder-suicide in Malvern. Multiple law enforcement agencies conducted a five-hour investigation, leading to the discovery of two bodies, one male and one female.
Geneva County Sheriff Greg Ward met with the media just before 10 p.m. on Friday night. He reports the daughter of the couple who owns the home called authorities.
She reportedly came to the home on East College Avenue in Malvern on Friday afternoon. Upon arriving at the home, the woman heard a gun shot. She left the house and contacted local police.
Multiple agencies arrived on the scene and conducted a five-hour investigation. The Dothan Bomb Squad assisted in the investigation, and several loud bangs were heard as authorities cleared the home.
After entering the home, police deemed the scene a murder-suicide. Evidence at the scene indicates the woman died first.
The names of the deceased have not been released at this time. There is no indication of a cause for the shootings.
Authorities are on the scene of a possible shooting in Geneva County.
Geneva County Sheriff's deputies, the Houston County S.W.A.T. team, Hartford Police and Alabama State Troopers are at a home on College Avenue in Malvern. The Dothan Bomb Squad is on the scene as well.
At this time it is unclear what is going on.
