DOTHAN, AL - We have learned the man who started a high speed chase in Dothan Thursday afternoon is dead.

Police said they tried pulling over a driver in the 1500 block of Montgomery Highway around 4:00 p.m. Thursday. They believed the driver was wanted for a felony. They said the driver, a man, started driving off and police pursued.

Officials said the driver hit another car. Sources tell us the man then tried to hit another police officer, and that's when officers started shooting at the original driver. They believe those shots forced the driver to crash into the Signs by Designs building on Montgomery Highway.

Police said one person was working at Signs by Designs when the crash happened. That worker was injured and taken to a Dothan hospital. Police have not released that person's condition.

They did confirm the driver was killed, however they have not released his name or any other information.
