The Dothan infant that nearly drowned in a bathtub earlier this week is improving.
The one year old was taken to the Children’s Hospital in Birmingham on Tuesday.
Wednesday, the infant was reported to be wide awake and alert, but will remain hospitalized for further observation.
The child’s mother, Pashada Cutter, 21, has been arrested and charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
Investigators believe Cutter left the infant and another child unattended in the bathroom.
Cutter has been freed on a $12,000 bond.

The child is listed in “critical” condition, but the extent of the injuries are still unknown. The investigation is still ongoing with more charges possible.

Just before nine Tuesday morning, a woman reported her one year old child had possibly drowned in the bath tub.
Police say the child was breathing, but not responsive.
It’s believed two children were left unattended in the bathroom.
The other child is two years old.
The mother is being questioned by Dothan police.
“Anytime you have a child who is injured whether it is an accident or something intentional, it’s our duty to look into the facts or circumstances to see if charges can be brought,” said Dothan Police Lieutenant Will Benny.
The child was treated a Dothan hospital, and later airlifted to Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham.
