UPDATE: One-Vehicle Wreck Causes Major Damage To Cemetery

20 year-old Cody Weston Trusty, of Ashford, is the young man who was behind the wheel of the car. He is being held at Houston County jail on charges of driving while intoxicated.


Houston County Police responded to a single vehicle wreck this morning around 1:00 am.

It happened at the Union Hill Baptist Church on Cottonwood Road.

A vehicle allegedly was heading North on Hwy 53 when it entered the church graveyard.

The vehicle ran through a fence and traveled 300 feet in to the cemetery, causing extensive damage to several headstones.

Ingram Headstones is on the scene assessing the damage. They say at least 12 headstones have been damaged.

There was a female passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

She has been transported to an area hospital.

The man that was driving has been transported to the Houston County Jail.

The wreck is under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
