DOTHAN -- Congratulations are in order for the forty-four students who received their GEDs on Sunday afternoon.
One woman has had a particularly trying journey to graduation. After surviving a devastating car accident that left her fighting for her life, Brittany Richardson took control.
"I know it's a big step, I've waited five years," Brittany Richardson said. "I kept learning and going through the books and all I could think about was my daughter, she needs a better life."
Educators said that the GED graduation is one of the happiest days of the year.
"They've studied hard, they've worked hard to get ready for it and this is a celebration day," Adult Education Director Linda Watson said.
