The Southeast Alabama Medical Center is hosting its 3rd Annual Nurse Recruitment Fair.
With more than 2.5-Million jobs, Registered Nursing is the largest healthcare occupation.
The Medical Center plans to fill some of their vacant positions and they're guaranteeing this won't be your average job fair.
Registered nurses across the Wiregrass are updating their resumes and re-writing their cover letters, in preparation for the Southeast Alabama Medical Center's recruitment fair.
"We're going to have a fun event this year," said Lisa Knight, Human Resources Coordinator.
Thursday's recruitment fair will have entertaining events, such as a guest speaker discussing ways to look good and get healthy in the New Year.
“The speaker for the event is Dr. Trenace Dubreuil from Living Well Medical Weight Loss,” said Knight.
Before the lecture, the Medical Center wants to get your heart pumping.
“We're going to have Zumba classes and while we're having a good time we're going to encourage nurses to come and work with us,” said Knight.
Nursing Directors will be on hand at the event to conduct tours of the nursing units and answer any questions.
“We are looking for nurses that are compassionate, that meet our mission, vision, and values."
All Registered Nurses licensed in Alabama are welcome, regardless of experience level.
The fair is Thursday, January 27th in the Doctors Building on the 7th floor at 5:30 p.m.
Employers across the country report having difficulty attracting and retaining RN's because of the aging RN workforce and the lack of younger workers willing to fill the position.
The average salary for a registered nurse ranges from $46,000 to $66,000.
