Newton Residents Accused of Aggravated Child Abuse

On Sept. 6, the Dale County Sheriff’s Investigators were contacted by the Newton Police Department in reference to a four-year-old female who was being treated at a local hospital for injuries that appeared to have resulted from an assault in Newton.

Investigators responded to the hospital and discovered that the victim had multiple bruises throughout her body and multiple burn marks consistent with being burned with a cigarette. The victim was treated and admitted to the hospital for observation.

Investigators executed a search warrant at the victim’s residence and collected evidence pertaining to the investigation. Investigators also interviewed the residents who were providing care for the victim during the time of the incidents.

Investigators arrested Andrew “Dylan” Chandler, 20 and Bridget Marie Chandler, 18. Both were charged them with torture, willful abuse of a child under 18 by a responsible person. Based on new information the charges will be upgraded to aggravated child abuse.

Both subjects were placed in the Dale County Jail under a $25,000 Bond.
