OZARK, AL-- The Ozark Fire department will get a new ride. The city council announced they were awarded $285,000 grant.
The city will match the cost for the new truck with $65,000.
It will replace an old piece of equipment that has been used for more than 20 years.
Ozark Mayor Billy Blackwell said, “This truck will have some additional things on it that will give us capabilities that we don’t have right now so it is going to be a huge benefit for the citizens because it will increase our capabilities for service.”
Mayor Blackwell says they are exploring unique ideas of what to do with the old fire truck. One condition of the grant is that it can’t be used for fire fighting.
