After the hostage situation in Midland City, school leaders are upping their security measures.
Today identification badges were being made at the Dale County Board of Education for every school employee. The badges must be visible at all times.
School leaders hope this will help with everyday security and also help in times of emergency.
Dale County Schools Superintendent Donny Bynum said, “And first responders, that’s a biggie. In the event of a bus incident, or something happened at an athletic event, they can come up to an employee who has a name badge on and identify themselves as a visitor on campus, way of improving communication.”
The district is looking at possibly adding badges for each student.
In the future they may also add the ability to use the badges to clock in hours.
