Adoption in Alabama could get easier for families in 2013.
A new law that goes into effect today is at least hoping for that...when it comes to adopting internationally.

The law known as the "Karina law" will cut out the re-adoption process where families have to go to probate court once back in Alabama, with their child.
But, officials say that’s only if they have the right paperwork.
Instead, families with this paperwork could go through the vital statistics department and mail-in a form.

Some of the documents required are:
A social security card of the child’s name certified copies of their foreign birth certificate, and original documents related to the adoption.
The parents must have a valid government picture I-D, and proof of residency.
