People are wearing red x's on their hands today but it's not because they're under 21.

People across the country wore red x's on their hands today to “Shine a Light on Slavery.”

The goal is to educate people about modern day slavery and help put a stop to it.

27 million men, women and children are trapped in slavery around the world today.

From brothels, to factories, street corners and even homes.

Love in Action ministries in Dothan says education is key to putting a stop to slavery.

"Besides just putting that x on your hand, take the next step. Get involved, get educated, know what it's about but more than that it's “Shine a Light on Slavery Day” but you need to be the light for someone that's in that darkness," Human Trafficking Outreach Director, Gia Hughes said.
