TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) -- Officials at an Alabama museum say a faculty art show was canceled when board members deemed some images offensive in a piece meant to comment on Alabama's 2011 immigration law.

Kelly Williams, office administrator of Heritage Hall Museum, said nine artists had contributed to what was supposed to be a group exhibit for Troy University faculty members.

Reports say that a piece by one artist showed cans of Ajax with swastikas on the top. Williams said the work also included some digitally altered images of the Virgin Mary holding a dead chicken in one hand and a broom and dust pan in the other.

Williams said the university was contacted, and the museum board then made a unanimous decision to cancel the show.
